Richard D'Oyly Carte - Original Vanity Fair Print






















Richard D'Oyly Carte was caricatured by 'SPY' for Vanity Fair in 1891 by which time Gilbert and Sullivan were nearing the end of their colaborative career.
Vanity Fair in honouring D'oyly Carte and the construction of his new theatre, The Royal English Opera, which opened on the 31st January 1891, made special mention of that 'beneficient triumverate', Gilbert, Sullivan and D'Oyly Carte.

Palace of Whitehall - Inigo Jones Stunning set of 3 engravings c.1715






















These three extensive images represent Inigo Jones design for the Palace of Whitehall in 1639. They were published by the Architect Colen Campbell in his landmark Vitruvius Britannicus. The engraving was performed by Henry (Henrick) Hulsbergh between 1715 and 1717.
